Comunidades is doing wonderful work. The nonprofit organization led by Columbia Riverkeeper Ubaldo Hernández is driven by the passion and dedication of Latino/a/x/e leaders, activists, educators, and residents from the Gorge. Comunidades recognizes that ecological problems expand and converge with the social injustices the Latino/a/x/e community has experienced, including exposure to toxic pollution and pesticide.
Even in the face of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Comunidades has trained folks across rural Oregon and Washington to become news sources by hosting the Facebook Live steam “Voces del Noroeste” every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 PM.
