Watershed Alliance of SW Washington is a non-profit organization located in Vancouver, Washington. Their mission is to empower community members to protect and restore southwest Washington’s waterways and natural areas for the benefit of current and future generations.

What work has the Watershed Alliance of SW Washington been a part of?

Clark County is home to over 16 watersheds, including the largest, the Burnt Bridge Creek watershed, located in the city of Vancouver.

Their most recent restoration project took place at Abrams Park in Ridgefield, WA. The park’s improvements focused on enhancing water quality and fish habitat by adding woody debris and planting vegetation in and around the creek to prevent erosion. This initiative involved collaboration with the City of Ridgefield, the Lower Columbia Fish Enhancement Group, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the Clark County Water Restoration Fund.

Ways to get involved!

The Backyard Habitat Certification Program and their stewardship events are a great way for the community to get involved. Stewardship events include Spanish language interpretation, litter and beach cleanups, planting, and the Project Restore program.

If you are a local or visitor to Clark County, visit the “Volunteer” section of their website to learn how to get involved.

They also host an annual environmental film series—it’s a great way to get together and build community. Visit their website to learn when the next film series is set.
