The Difference Between Rainbow Trout and Steelhead Trout

Rainbow trout and steelhead trout are actually the same species. They have the exact same genetics but totally different lifestyles. Rainbow trout live in our rivers and streams their whole lives, while steelhead go out to sea to become adults and return to lay eggs, just like salmon. Why? No one knows!
