What is Naturescaping?

Naturescaping just means making your yard or green space mimic the natural environment of our region by using native plants. Native plants do well in our climate: they’re used to our rainy winters, dry summers, and our local soil conditions. Plus, they have evolved together with the animals and insects that call this area home, so they know how to attract beneficial critters and repel pests and diseases! Amazing.

Naturescaping has so many benefits! For example:

  • Naturescaped areas won’t need to be watered or fertilized as much.
  • They will attract more birds, butterflies, and other beneficial critters.
  • Less pests = less chemical pesticides.

All of these add up to healthier soil, cleaner water, and habitat for more native insects and animals of all sizes.
