If the point of a lawn is to have a lush, soft carpet of green in your yard, why not moss? As a lawn alternative, moss is notable for its ability to thrive in the typically acidic soil of the Pacific Northwest, and there are many varieties! Moss demands consistent shade, fall leaf removal, and may not be the best option for households with rambunctious pets. You are free to lightly frolic across a moss lawn, but adding stepstones is recommended for high-traffic foot paths.
