Happy Earth Day 🌎 🌍 🌏 You can make an impact today—and every day—by connecting with water.
But how does one even ~connect~ with water? There are many ways—whether that’s volunteering with local nonprofits, getting involved with your watershed council, visiting a nearby stream, or trying to conserve water from the comfort of your home. There’s something for everyone!
Here are ways you can start protecting the environment around you:
- Volunteer or educate your community by checking out local organizations on Earth Day Oregon’s calendar.
- Conserve water by so that less runoff and wastewater end up in the ocean.
- Don’t dispose of chemicals or old prescriptions down the drain or toilet. Choose non-toxic chemicals at home and in the workplace.
- Reduce, reuse, and recycle products and items to help sustain the environment for future generations.
- Start your spring water-wise gardening by selecting native and drought-tolerant plants.
- Upgrade your bathroom with water-efficient tanks and faucets.
- Visit your local fountain, creek, or river to take in the majesty (and mental health benefits!) of flowing water.
